For some students, summer is already in full bloom and for others summer is just a few finals away. Regardless of whether you are already sleeping in until 3PM or are still catching up on 12 weeks’ worth of webcasts, no doubt you’ve realized the flush of summer blockbusters already on their way to a theater near you. The few that came out already (Thor, Fast and Furious, Pirates) puts this summer on track to be a pretty epic season in terms of cinematic awesomeness. Here are a few movies that CampusCred is personally very excited to screen:

Hangover Part II: We couldn’t get enough of the Wolfpack in the first one, so thank goodness for their return. Even though I’m a little sad that Stu and that Vegas stripper didn’t work out, I am very pleased that Jamie Chung is in this movie (I get mauled by a tiger for her any day). Although I’m a little worried that there’s going to be too many similarities to the first one (ie blacking out and doing crazy shizz) I still have high hopes that this will be a Hangover i won’t forget (that’s kind of a pun right?).

X-Men First Class: I’m not sure if my inner-nerd is clouding my judgement, but I am excessively excited for this movie. I’m talking about foaming at the mouth anticipation. Ever since the firs X-Men, I’ve been waiting for a movie like this going back to the origins of magnet and wheel-chair. Even though it’s painfully obvious that the storyline does not match the comics, I can’t wait to see this rag-tag team of genetic outcasts tear the human race a new one (crap that’s me huh?).

Super 8: Let’s be ferrealsies here, they are trying way to hard to make this movie seem ultra mysterious. To me, it kind of looks like a crossover between Cloverfield and ET. Nevertheless, the tag-team duo of J.J Abrams and Steven Spielberg will surely not disappoint…right? They have built this movie up way too much for it to be some trite ‘space alien befriending little boy’ storyline. There better be some Inception status mind-shattering scenes in this movie or Super 8 will be Super Lame.

Green Lantern: Again my inner-nerd is going bezerk for this movie, because Green Lantern has always been a favorite of mine. If you think about it, so many of our childhood favorites had something to do with rings, like Lord of the Rings, Captain Planet, and that scary movie with the girl coming out of TV’s. Green Lantern should prove no different as Ryan Reynolds flies through the galaxy fighting big yellow heads. After all, there isn’t anything that Ryan Reynold can’t do…er I mean Green Lantern.

Cars 2: Ah, the summer Pixar movie. I must first admit that I was not a huge fan of the first Cars movie, I mean it was good, but it just didn’t have that imaginative spark that most Pixar movies have. However, since I cried for 3 days straight and questioned my entire outlook on life after watching Toy Story 3, I am confident that Pixar is not going to falter with Cars 2. Even though I’m still a little confused by how this whole world of just cars work, I’m just going to let Pixar take the wheel here and enjoy the movie on cruise control (man I’m on a roll!).
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Pat II: That’s right my friends, it is all finally coming to an end. Whether you grew up with the books or with little baby Radcliffe, the series is soon to reach its climax in this ultimate feature. Even though I’m sure most already know what’s to come, some of us still like to pretend that we haven’t read the 800 page book four times. Regardless though of who dies or who lives, all that I need to know is that Emma Watson is now a stunning creature who I will grovel over as I see her for the last time as Hermonie Granger.
So which of the summer blockbusters are you most excited to see?
